The candidates for the 2023 GICCA Board elections have provided their profiles describing who they are and what they would like to accomplish if elected to the board.  Click on each name below to view each profile to help you make a decision on who you would like to see on the GICCA board for the next two years.  Members may vote for up to five candidates.

For the first time this year, GICCA will welcome two associate board member positions open to Guemes residents under 18 years of age.  We look forward to the new perspectives they will bring to the board. The two candidates for the two associate positions are:

GICCA has two types of members: “Statutory” members, who are all Guemes Island residents and property owners aged eighteen or older, and “Associate” members, who are under 18.  Statutory members will vote to fill five open positions on the GICCA Board and two Associate Member Board positions.

Voting has two steps.  First membership is verified, and then a ballot is provided to be filled out.  Membership is verified by either by checking the Skagit County Tax Assessor roll or presentation of any official document with the person’s name and address on Guemes Island such as, but not limited to: driver’s license, car registration, utility bill, or rent receipt. If your membership was verified at a business meeting during the year and you were given a membership card, you can present that card.

If you email us at, we can provide an absentee ballot for anyone who is not on the island during scheduled voting times.  Absentee ballots need to be RECEIVED by November 30.

Voters may vote for up to FIVE candidates for Board and may vote for up to TWO Associate Members.

Absentee Ballots
At the September 28, 2023 Business Meeting, the Membership approved new bylaws. One change is to allow and encourage people who are not on the island during the month of November to vote; for future years the process is outlined in the Bylaws.  For this year, since the new process was adopted too late to implement the method in the Bylaws, here is how you can get an absentee ballot. EMAIL us at and give us a few windows of time when you could meet with a GICCA Board member.  We’ll meet you at the Hall or Library and can verify your membership in the Association.  What you need to bring: any official document with the voting persons’ name(s) and address on Guemes Island such as, but not limited to: driver’s license, car registration, utility bill, or rent receipt, and tax bill, and bring a stamped, addressed envelope for us to mail you a ballot as soon as the slate of candidates is established in late October.  If you are already away from the island and would like to vote, please email us and provide a picture of your documentation, and we’ll mail you a ballot.  Please mail your ballot(s) well before November 30 so that they reach us before the November 30 Annual Meeting to be counted.
